Whispers Newsletter Review. Issue One.

It's always nice to discover a new Pagan newsletter, especially one as good as this.

The starting site is very basic and clean, a lovely change from some heavily graphic-based sites. This means that the articles are easy to read, and draw you into them much faster than if you were squinting to make out the text.

The newsletter page lists the articles and their authors at the top so that you can either click on an article that catches your eye and be taken straight to it, or you can scroll down the page and see what delights you come across first.

The newsletter also contains a good mix of articles, from some wonderfully emotive poetry to a beautiful piece of artwork to print off and colour in. There are many pieces that are obviously forming a series of articles and I am looking forward to the next installments.

In Meet and Greet the God and Goddess we are introduced to the Goddess Hathor. Tranquilstar has written a brilliant article about Hathor and the roots of her gradual displacement by Isis (and the archaeologists that emphasised that displacement).

The Pagan Headstone Campaign (http://mysite.freeserve.com/headstonecampaign/index.html) also has an article in this edition, hopefully encouraging more people to take part in a thoroughly worthy cause.

The Headstone Campaign is also mentioned in Pagans in the Military by Anna Alexander. Anna has interviewed her husband Ian about his experiences as a Pagan in the military and has produced a very illuminating article on a frequently overlooked subject. Hopefully this article will help to prevent any intolerance from other Pagans to Pagans who join the military - an issue brought up in the excellent piece on Religious Tolerance by Isault Aurora.

There are excellent pieces on Agrimony and Agate and a throughly informative piece on the cycle of the Moon. For those feeling the urge to be a little more creative there is a printable colouring page and an idea for a pencil holder that will keep the kids occupied and may persuade them to tidy away their pencils afterwards.

Ivy contributes a simple spell for animal healing and an album review that makes me wish I had the money to run out and buy it!

Shewolf Silver Shadows provides a thought-provoking look at the products we use in our homes and on ourselves, and makes me thankful that I already use as few chemicals as possible when washing my clothes. She also looks at Pagan Parenting and why it is so important to educate the next generation so that they do not have to face the same problems many of us had to deal with when we were younger.

This first edition also contains a website review, a book review, a thoughtful quote provided by Tranquilstar, and a wonderful poem on the Moon by Persephone.

A very thought-provoking and entertaining newsletter that I will be recommending to many.
