'Mr & Mrs Smith' 2005 Twentieth Century Fox starring Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt Length: 120 mins

Pretty People! Oooooooooo...

Big Explosions! AAAAaaaaaaaaaaa...

Angelina Jolie! Mmmmmmmmmm...

(LoL)

Okay, with that out of the way, I was both disappointed and pleased by this movie. Disappointed that the beginning seemed so terribly slow. Pleased that the director did take the time to show the rut these characters were in during the beginning. Because once the action started, it was all the difference between night and day. Which was the perfect metaphor for Mr. & Mrs. Smith's relationship.

There was definite chemistry between the actors. Nothing overtly sexual, but rather subtle and comfortable, like two good friends. Once the on-screen characters rediscover each other, that chemistry fits nicely into good acting. But let's face it ... The plot is very light and predictable. Nothing Oscar worthy here, just light summer fare.

Is the movie fun? Yes.

Is it worth seeing in the theater? Sure.

Could one wait for DVD rental? Absolutely.

But if you would like to escape the summer heat and enjoy a bit of low-brow entertainment - pretty people and big explosions and all that good stuff - then Mr. & Mrs. Smith would be a great way to spend a couple of hours.
