'Mixed Nuts' (1994) Rated PG-13 for sex-related humor. Runtime: 97 min Starring: Steve Martin, Juliette Lewis, Liev Schreiber, Adam Sandler, Madeline Kahn and Rita Wilson *Contains spoilers*

Mixed Nuts is about three volunteers, Philip (Martin), Catherine (Wilson) and Mrs. Munchnik (Kahn), for a crisis hotline and the people who mess up their lives. Catherine has a crush on Philip, but he barely knows she's alive. Louie (Sandler), an aspiring t-shirt writer (don't ask), with a love for the ukelele is in love with Catherine. Mrs Munchnik is about to spend Christmas with her dead husband's sister but things spiral out of control when she gets stuck in the lift of the building they work in.

Meanwhile, Los Angeles is terrified because there is a serial killer on the loose: the seaside strangler. Catherine's friend Gracie (Lewis) and her boyfriend Felix (Anthony LaPaglia) have a fight and Gracie who is pregnant decides to go visit Catherine, however Felix follows her there. And this is when things get really weird. Felix requires medical attention so he's taken to the vet's. At this time Chris (Schreiber), a transvestite, shows up.

Long story short: boy gets girl. Boy with ukelele falls for boy in dress. Grumpy old lady gets some, and there's a baby born at Christmas. Oh and the serial killer gets caught too.

I'm not a big Steve Martin fan, and Adam Sandler doesn't blow my skirt up either. But all in all this was fun to watch, though be it rather confusing.
