'Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy' 2005 Touchstone Pictures starring Martin Freeman, Mos Def and Warwick Davis Length: 110 mins
Good / Theater worthy
For someone who's never read any of the books, seen only 2 television episodes, and has only the vaguest of ideas what the story is about, I wasn't sure what to think. But I can definitely understand why all of the public reviews were either a "Love It" or "Hate It". This movie is British Humor through and through. If ya don't like dry, odd, thinking man, ironical humor, then don't bother. Otherwise you'll probably love this show.
The movie was very well done. Technically, the special effects were outstanding, lending realism where necessary, and Jim Henson's Creature Effects did an amazing job on the Vogons. The acting was all very good, and the little segues into odd facts and not quite related mini stories was apropos for British Humor that I did enjoy. Can't say if the story followed the books or not. If this is the only exposure to the books, then I can't wait for the next one. Oh, and do stick around through the credits. There's a little more worth watching.
