'Divine by Mistake' by P.C. Cast ISBN: 1552545814 Paperback 6.99$(US)

Someone I respect a lot said to me, "There are no mistakes"... yet I believe in syncronicity.

I was in great need of my morning coffee fix, so I went into our local bookstore, on my way out I saw the cover of a book and had to stop...the woman was doing an offering to the Goddess, I knew it without even reading the title.

I literally felt like I should buy the book and I did so not knowing about the author. The book is humorous and enchanting, a romantic mystical/mythical saga of time travel. Something kept nagging at me, the theme was familiar...well of course, I had done research on Rhiannon and the Goddess Epona in order to make a series of Shamaness and Priestess Art Dolls in 2003.

P.C. has a charming way with words, she manages to bring the reader along with her in a strange yet familiarity territory, it is like "being there" with her, crossing the veils of time and space...something very sweet indeed, because the Goddess of old is so present in my day, no matter what name She takes I found myself noding as if I was remembering those days...as if I had experienced those places too.

Now...this bugs me a little because I DO NOT LIKE TO READ ROMANCE NOVELS...but if it has a bit of history or goddesses you have me hooked. sighs* At the begining I felt unconfortable with the mix of ancient times and reference to present day, it is like ohh dude, this is a trashy novel...but the enchantment was there...shrugs, and I was hooked.

I am looking forward to reading other books by P.C. (and all my collection of Charles deLint) what a great way to drift into Winter, I have been touched by her ability to blend the two realities of fantasy and reality, one and the same, because shamanic ralms are like that, a realization of enchantment in our every day life.

This might sound silly to you...but I was so inspired by the books description of the aromatic baths that I took a shower this morning ritualizing it, I asked to be cleansed of any negativity and to be given the protection and serenity of the Goddess so I can create with new eyes.

By the way, the wonderful painting on the cover of the book was done by James Griffin an artist who happens to have a blog, he is amazing.
