On the off-chance you don't already know, Pixie is a wonderful lady who has been a part of Witch Grove for ages. Not only does she work on the WG website, do great tarot readings on-list, introduce features and weekly discussions, she is a Mod too! In order to find out a little more about her I had the privilege of an interview with the lady herself. Here is what she had to say.
(Introduction by Ivy Wolfmoon)
First, for the people who don't yet know, tell us a little about yourself. What do you do for work and for fun, where do you call home, and what spiritual path do you walk?
My "real" job is designing web pages with streaming media for churches, ministries and non-profits. Most of my clients are pastors and ministers. How's that for ironic? LOL. I work from home 99% of the time which allows me the flexibility to work and surf the internet at the same time. It also allows me to stay home with my boxers and cats. The love of my life, my husband, is in sales, so he's home about 50% of the time, leaving us to spend a lot of time together.
My non-working hours are spent rescuing homeless boxers and helping them find their forever homes. I manage the website, email, application intake radio/TV promotion and fundraising for our rescue.
I also recently signed up to be a Pampered Chef consultant. (Insert shameless promotion: so should any one desire to have a "catalog" party, I would be more than happy to be at your beck and call.) This is something I have talked about doing for a long time and I've finally jumped in. To motivate myself, I am also setting up my business so a portion of my income will be donated to different breed rescue groups to help cover their veterinary bills.
I call Colorado home, though my family is in Ohio, where I lived for most of my life. I've also called Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Kentucky home.
I walk a path called "Pixie-ism". I'm eclectic with most of my magical workings, dealing with food, herbs, cooking and gardening. I'm not a traditional witch, and you're more likely to find me casting a circle with the wooden spoon that I used last night to stir soup than using the beautiful athame that rarely leaves my bookshelf.
Pixie, you were recently honoured with the title of Witch Grove Mod, how did that come to pass?
Simple, the phone rang one afternoon and Cerr asked me. :)
What was your first thought when you were asked to be a Mod?
"Ah, shit, now I can't make fun of the mods and I have to actually be somebody to blame when shit hits the fan." Actually, I was very flattered.
Now that you are a Mod, has your opinion of WG changed at all?
No. It's the same wonderful Grove to me. I've been close friends with most of the mods for a long time, so I know that we have our ups and downs and things aren't always rosy in the Grove.
What is your favorite part of the job? Do you have a least favorite?
Giving the other mods a hard time is the best part. Nothing is a least favorite.
What kinds of responsibilities do you have now?
I assist Mab with the website, whenever there is a need; which is something that I had been doing already, so really nothing has changed.
You have been a member of the Grove forever, but how did you come to be a part of it in the first place?
Same way that many of us old-timers did. When an old group was disbanded, I got a e-mail within hours of the demise and I jumped right back in with old friends.
What do you think makes Witch Grove as unique as it is?
The individuality of all our members, their openness to share their thoughts and their desire to learn from others with an open mind.
In your mind's eye, what does Witch Grove look like?
I wish I could find the posts in the archives where we each described the Grove... I see it as a large forest area with a central fire/hearth for gathering. In the trees are private areas and tents for meeting, sleeping, dancing, playing, gardening etc...
Besides world peace, what do you hope to achieve as WG Mod?
Eek, I didn't realize there was something I was supposed to achieve. I just see myself as a "tour guide" to help our members in whatever way that I can.
What has been your happiest Witch Grove memory?
Anytime that I have had the opportunity to spend time with fellow Grovers. Attending William's Wiccaning in Las Vegas was magical and the trip to Britain was surreal. The next gathering will be at Heather's wedding later in 2005.
What do you think the Grove will be like in the future?
I hope it evolves and changes with us as we need.
If you absolutely had to describe Witch Grove in a word, which word would it be?
Comfy
