Heiress to Evil

Heiress to Evil

You are possibly best known for your novel, 'Heiress to Evil'.

Uhm, yes because it's the only novel I had published *wicked smile*

Do you see yourself in either Ginny or Georgia?

I see traits of myself in both of them. I think I created Georgia as an idealised version of myself. Smarter, prettier and definitely a lot more heroic than I will ever be. On the other hand Ginny may be a trimmed down version of me, she definitely shares some of my insecurities - but fortunately for me, I don't have her taste in men (though mine does need improvement as well).

What were your inspirations for the novel?

It all started with a dream about a house on an Irish hillside. And as I started writing about the house, the story basically formed itself as it saw fit. I did have a little to do with it, but the story told itself. As I was writing one of the scenes in Heiress to Evil, I was watching the burial of the Dutch prince consort on television; it brought a completely new perspective to the story.

Have you ever flown on a plane to a random airport and caught the first bus you see, to wherever it's going to go, just to go somewhere else?

Not on a plane, but I have taken a bus to see where it would take me. The plane was usually prebooked. I have also hitchhiked from Geneva to Paris once :-)

Would we be able to visit Ceann Ailbhe for real, if we so wished?

Nope I made the entire village up.

Would you describe the book as SciFi, Horror or another genre?

Probably dark fantasy, maybe even borderline horror.

Why should we read this book?

Because you're my friends and you'll support me? No, seriously. If you have an interest in fantasy, borderline horror, you may enjoy reading Heiress to Evil.
